Cherokee County boy honored for saving grandmother’s life

A 12-year-old Cherokee County boy has been honored by Scouting America for saving his grandmother’s life after she almost drowned.

Mason Pulliam, a Tenderfoot Scout in Troop 241 in Canton, was honored with a Medal of Heroism Nov. 11. He received this honor for saving his grandmother, Connie Pulliam, from drowning last year.

The medal recognizes individuals who “have demonstrated heroism and skill in saving or attempting to save a life at minimal personal risk. This award is part of a series of lifesaving awards that honor acts of extraordinary skill, resourcefulness, and bravery,” according to Scouting America (formerly Boy Scouts of America)…
