HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — The Food Bank of North Alabama worked to brighten the holidays for hundreds of local families on Tuesday, hosting a large-scale food distribution to combat seasonal food insecurity.
In collaboration with Northwood Community Outreach, the Food Bank held a drive-thru mobile pantry at Apollo Alternate School in Huntsville. Throughout the afternoon, a steady line of vehicles moved through the lot as volunteers loaded trunks with a variety of free groceries. Organizers said these events are critical during the holiday season as they work to meet a growing need across North Alabama.
“The boxes have some fruit, some vegetables, some meat,” one organizer said. “And they’re really hardy. So it’s a lot in each box.”…
