One person injured after house fire in South Knoxville

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — One person has been taken to a hospital after a house fire in South Knoxville Wednesday.

Just after 7 p.m., the Knoxville Fire Department reported that crews were on the scene of the fire in the 100 block of Keeble Avenue.

According to KFD, a 911 caller reported that the upstairs of the home was on fire at 6:31 p.m. The caller added that they were trying to get everyone out, but there were still multiple people in the home.

When Knoxville Fire Department crews arrived at the scene, they worked to extinguish the fire while a man who was at the home used a ladder to rescue another man who was trapped on the roof.

Seven adults and four children were occupying the home at the time of the fire. KFD said the man who was rescued from the roof was injured. He was taken by AMR ambulance to a local hospital.

The home suffered heavy fire and smoke damage, KFD said. The fire department added that the American Red Cross is assisting the occupants of the home, and firefighters were able to salvage some of the children’s Christmas presents…
