Christmas celebrated across Pennsylvania amidst divisive times

HARRISBURG, Pa. — Hundreds of worshipers packed into the Cathedral Parish of Saint Patrick in Harrisburg on Christmas Eve to celebrate Christmas, along with the millions of Christians celebrating across Pennsylvania.

The celebration comes after a year marked by disruption and war around the world. Harrisburg Bishop Timothy Senior said the message of Christmas is that light can still shine, even through troubling times.

“There’s so much darkness in the world and suffering in the world,” Senior said. “If we think of the wars unfolding in Ukraine and in Gaza and other parts of the world, we need to know that God, ultimately, is still with us.”…
