BSO Warns Holiday Travelers at Fort Lauderdale Airport to Avoid Unlicensed Rideshare Drivers

Travelers come to South Florida for the sun, beaches, and dining, but the Broward Sheriff’s Office is warning visitors not to let unlicensed rideshare solicitors at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport derail their trip.

The BSO Airport District is advising passengers to be alert for illegal rideshare drivers and to follow safety protocols when arranging ground transportation from the airport.

“Christmas brings a surge of travelers, and whenever the terminals get packed, the number of unlicensed rideshare drivers trying to blend in rises along with it,” BSO Airport District Capt. Brian Montgomery said. “Let me be clear — operating as an unlicensed driver is illegal. We’re tightening our curbside oversight and increasing patrols to keep travelers safe and ensure everyone gets to their destination without being swindled.”…
