Iowans benefit as Mercedes-Benz settles emissions case for $149M

DES MOINES, Iowa — Attorney General Brenna Bird announced a $149,673,750 settlement with Mercedes-Benz USA and Daimler AG, joined by 50 attorneys general.

The settlement addresses the use of illegal emissions defeat devices in over 211,000 diesel vehicles from 2008 to 2016, violating state laws against unfair trade practices. Bird emphasized the importance of transparency for consumers.
