LINCOLN, Neb. — For the past six years, the Nebraska Christmas Lights display has been a growing spectacle in Lincoln, with nearly a million lights illuminating the night sky.
Constantine Syniy, the owner and mastermind behind the show, said, “We redesign the show probably every two years, sometimes we do it every year. We add new pieces, sometimes switch them around, but typically every year we just add more pieces to the show.”
Syniy, who hails from Ukraine and has lived in Lincoln for almost 25 years, starts planning the show in August. The lights take six weeks to set up and remain on display for three months before being taken down over four weeks. “It’s a very complex operation, so all these props that we have here, all of them were custom built in our heating and air shop,” Syniy explained. He added, “When I was designing the show I always wanted to have two lanes because all the families come with the little kids and it’s hard for them to wait.”…
