Brooklyn Park man in custody for shooting at Maple Grove Benihana

A Brooklyn man is facing assault charges for reportedly shooting someone at Benihana in Maple Grove last month.

Deontae Coney, 31, is charged with felony second-degree assault of a dangerous weapon, which carries a maximum sentence of seven years in prison and a $14,200 fine, in Hennepin County Court. The minimum prison sentence, if convicted, is three years.

Coney was arrested by Maple Grove police and is in custody as of Dec. 23, according to Hennepin County Jail records…
