Arkansas’ accidental Christmas anthem: A melody born from a gray day

LITTLE ROCK, AR (KATV) — In 1987, a cold, gray day in Little Rock inspired Ned Perme, KATV’s longtime chief meteorologist, to create a song that would become a beloved Arkansas Christmas tradition.

“I was sitting at the piano in my home, and I had a fire going, and I was kind of tinkling around with melodies,” Perme said.
