Wichita Fire Department warns of holiday fire dangers

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — With warmer-than-usual weather this Christmas, space heaters and other home fire dangers we typically worry about shouldn’t be much of a problem. But there are still plenty of other fire hazards to watch for.

The holiday season is a busy time for firefighters. The Wichita Fire Department says electrical safety is important around this time.

“As far as trends, you know, the Wichita Fire Department, this is a busy time for us for fires,” WFD Lt. Cornelius Morgan. “You have the furnace starting, you have the space heaters starting to light up, then you have the chimneys being lit, so it is a busier time for us.”
