It’s not the oldest steakhouse in Colorado but, it has been open since 1966: Loveland’s The Black Steer. Famous for their great steaks, and for putting Chex Mix on their salad. But do you know what you get when you order ‘The Black Steer?’ You might be surprised.

The Black Steer is a Loveland classic on Lincoln just north of 4th Street. You can dine in the main dining area, or you can kick back in the “Rear of The Steer” bar. Sure, The Black Steer’s logo represents them being a steakhouse, that’s easy. But did you know, though, what you get when you say “Give me ‘The Black Steer’”?

The Black Steer opened in 1966 as an off-shoot of The Charco Broiler in Fort Collins; it’s hard to drive by Charco Broiler and not see many cars parked outside, The Black Steer is liked just as much. The restaurant was purchased by new owners, carrying on the tradition of The Steer, in 1992. The restaurant even has a mascot: a bull with what couldn’t be more perfect of a name: Chex…
