Akron Municipal Court welcomes Magistrate Myra Torain Embry

AKRON — Last month, Akron Municipal Court Judge Annalisa Williams appointed Myra Torain Embry to serve as a full-time magistrate in her courtroom. Williams (shown at left) administered Embry’s oath of office Nov. 4.

Magistrates are nonelected judicial officers and are appointed by the judges of the court. Embry previously served the Cleveland Housing Court as its chief magistrate. Prior to joining Cleveland Housing Court, she was an attorney in the Civil Division of the Legal Aid Society of Cleveland for nearly seven years.

“I am grateful to have Magistrate Embry as a member of my personal staff,” said Williams in a Dec. 18 press release. “Magistrate Embry brings decades of legal experience, a strong work ethic and a positive attitude.”…
