Americans can follow ‘buddy’ rule to skirt $100 fines around 24-hour snow removal law

CLEARING snow from driveways and sidewalks can quickly become a tiring chore that must be done to avoid fines of up to $100.

However, there is a way that homeowners can minimize their days spent shoveling snow this winter while still avoiding a violation of local law.

Many municipalities in the United States have some form of ordinance that mandates homeowners clear the snow from sidewalks in front of their properties within 24 hours, or risk fines typically maxing out at $100.

While this obviously benefits homeowners when they leave to go out somewhere, it’s also to the benefit of pedestrians passing through by nature of increasing how safe it is to walk on these sidewalks…
