My first issue with notification of violation of restrictions will be the restrictions themselves. I truly believe that those restrictions should be given some deep thought as to their intentions and their results.
1. I would think that the property restrictions would be for the purpose of maintaining property values, enhancing those property values and maintaining a wonderful, beautiful environment in which to enjoy life. Some many times I have read about violations that had absolutely no detriment to the community nor our neighbors. In so many instances, structures or other issues were created to either provide safety, privacy or beauty; however, they were restrictions and the property owners were forced to make corrections.
2. Examination, reporting and correcting violations. When we moved to The Villages about 25 years ago, we attended The Villages Academy and heard an address by the head of the Community Watch. Their role, at that time, was to routinely drive around all areas of The Villages, on the lookout for possible crimes. Another of their duties was to maintain compliance with property restriction violations. Community Watch was “proactive” in notifying property owners of violations and reporting those violations to the property authorities for compliance.
