Henderson councilwoman files to toss criminal charge over recording colleague

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — A Henderson city councilwoman has filed a petition to toss a criminal indictment charging her with illegally recording a colleague’s private conversation.

An attorney for Carrie Cox filed a petition for a writ of Habeas Corpus on Tuesday arguing several points for why a Clark County judge should reject the complaint.

Cox pleaded not guilty after a grand jury indicted her last month for a count of monitoring a private conversation. Fellow Councilwoman Monica Larson alleged Cox recorded a private conversation she had with two others, Michael Hiltz and Richard Smith, during an event at Henderson City Hall in January…
