When driving around Greensboro looking for a ” ’twas the night before Christmas…” house, we saw many large homes elegantly decorated. However, we kept returning to this one at 214 Florence Street. The humble, two-bedroom, one-bath house, built in 1935, located on a 1/7 of an acre lot, is so charming. With the simplicity of the three stocking hung by the door side with care, the small wreath on the door, and the red blanket on the porch swing it exudes the spirit of a simple, heartfelt Christmas. In this era of expanding and extensively remodeling older urban homes, there is something so pure and heartfelt about a home that shows no evidence of change across the last 90 years. We’ll be back in a decade to look; hoping it remains the same.
