WHEATON, Ill. (WGN) — A 27-year-old Chicago woman was charged with driving under the influence in DuPage County Court today after an entire family of four, including 7 and 10-year-old children, was hospitalized after a crash on Route 53 in Lombard.
27-year-old Jaquelin Onofre Reyes was charged with four counts of aggravated DUI, causing great bodily harm, on Wednesday after she allegedly crossed the median into oncoming traffic and hit an SUV with two adults and two children inside on Tuesday.
The state denied the prosecution’s request to detain Onofre Reyes pre-trial. Judge Joshua Drieden said that while “the allegations of the defendant’s conduct are tragic” and nothing that occurs in court “is meant to minimize the tragic nature of such an offense,” the Court must determine whether there “are no conditions or combination of conditions that can mitigate the danger she poses.”…
