HOUSTON — A west Houston family woke up Christmas morning to a devastating sight: their apartment was flooded with several inches of water after they said a pipe burst overhead.
The flooding happened early Christmas Day at the Trails of Woodlake Apartments on Westerland Drive near Westheimer Road. Instead of celebrating the holiday, Dolores Ruiz and her three siblings spent the day trying to salvage what they could from their water-damaged unit.
“On a holiday, on a very cheerful day, to be here, to be with family, having food ready to eat. What food? We can’t even prepare nothing,” Ruiz said. “Not right now, not with everything going on. Come on, it’s Christmas!”…
