Five women make history as largest Arkansas State Police female class since 1998

LITTLE ROCK, Ark — Last week, the Arkansas State Police graduated 49 new troopers after weeks of intense training. These 49 recruits will join the state police after the new year, but this class is a historic one. It’s the largest class of female recruits since 1998.

The five women who walked to get their certificate are now a part of a sisterhood of women who wear the same badge and uniforms as their male coworkers, and they are hoping to show young girls that they can do whatever they set their minds to.

“I’ve always wanted to better myself and better the agency that I work for. And what better way to do that than work for the most elite agency, in my opinion, the country, and the resources that we have are outstanding, the support we have the community and the ability to affect the entire state of Arkansas, rather than just a small area, is just monumental for me,” said then recruit Hannah Slajer…
