A reason to celebrate: Sedgwick County Zoo’s Penguin Cove reopening on Christmas

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Christmas has come for the Sedgwick County Zoo.

After being closed for most of the year, the Cessna Penguin Cove at the zoo will reopen on Thursday.

The zoo said in a blog post that the exhibit has been closed since leaks were discovered. The cove opened in 2007, and the zoo said years of harsh Kansas weather led to the bonded acrylic panels failing, causing the leaks.
