Patients test positive for Legionella after being treated at NJ hospital

PATERSON, N.J. (PIX11) —  New Jersey health officials are investigating two cases of Legionella infection connected to Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center.

Both patients have died.

The patients had been treated at the hospital months apart, one in July and another in November. The New Jersey Department of Health launched an investigation following the first death last month, prompting concerns among nearby residents.

“It makes me feel kind of worried because my kids have to walk through here regularly to go to school,” said Paterson resident Detron Davis, who lives just a block from the hospital. “You have to think about everybody going inside the building, rubbing their noses.”…
