Clarksville to open new White Flag emergency shelter for extreme cold

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – The city of Clarksville in Middle Tennessee is set to open an Emergency White Flag Shelter to house locals during extreme cold.

The city announced the new shelter on Tuesday, saying it will be activated when temperatures lower to 35 degrees Fahrenheit. The shelter will be ready for use beginning December 28.

“When temperatures reach or fall below for three or more days, emergency shelter operations are activated to ensure individuals experiencing homelessness have a warm, safe place to stay during dangerous weather,” a press release said.
