Firefighters are investigating the cause of a fire that broke out Christmas Day at a vacant shopping center in Canton.
According to Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services, firefighters responded at about 3:15 p.m. Thursday to a commercial structure fire at 271 Marietta Road in Canton, the vacant Canton Village shopping center.
Firefighters arrived and found smoke coming from the roof throughout the building and active fire inside the structure, the fire department reported. While firefighters used hose lines to start putting out the fire, other firefighters searched the building for occupants…
