CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) — The city of Charleston is offering residents a free Christmas tree composting program to help dispose of holiday decorations while supporting environmental efforts.
The program begins on Jan. 6 and runs through Valentine’s Day, with trees collected curbside on regularly-scheduled yard debris collection days.
Trees must be free of all decorations, including tinsel. They must be placed curbside so that equipment can reach them, preferably alone or near yard debris.
