More than $800,000 in stolen merchandise was recovered and 13 suspects were arrested in a multi-agency operation targeting a retail theft network in Northern California, authorities said.
The investigation began back in September when the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Valley Division Organized Retail Crime Task Force (ORCTF) learned a pair of suspects stole merchandise in Placer County and other locations “throughout the state.” On Oct. 1, those suspects were pulled over in a traffic stop conducted by the Rocklin Police Department, which requested assistance from the task force.
Those suspects identified individuals who were buying stolen merchandise from them and reselling it. Investigators learned the stolen goods were being distributed and sold at flea markets in Oakland, San Jose, Galt, Modesto and Stockton…
