Here are some of the restaurants expected to open in Gainesville in 2026:
Bonchon
Bonchon, a Dallas-based restaurant chain that specializes in Korean fried chicken, is planning to open Jan. 2 in the former Rock N’ Roll Sushi location in Butler North at 3205 Clark Butler Blvd., Suite 50.
Captain D’s
Captain D’s, a national fast-food chain known for its signature hand-battered fish fillets, will be opening at 209 NW 75th St., Suite 10, near the Home Depot. The restaurant last operated on Archer Road in Gainesville in July 2012.
Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen
While no announcement has been made, Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen has filed to enter the former Bahama Breeze at 3989 Plaza Blvd. in Butler North. The eatery serves classic American fare such as meatloaf, ribs and burgers.

DalMoros Pasta To Go
DalMoros Fresh Pasta To Go is planning to enter the ground floor of the parking garage behind Roberts Stadium Club, 16 NW 18th St., Suite 120. Customers create their own dishes with a selection of pastas, homemade sauces and toppings.
Egyptian Cafe
The Egyptian Cafe is set to open on Southeast Second Place next to The Hippodrome in downtown Gainesville. It will offer Middle Eastern cuisine and a hookah bar.
Linda Vista
Local Mexican favorite Linda Vista is working to open a second location in the former 43rd Street Deli on Williston Road at I-75. The restaurant specializes in classic Mexican fare such as burritos, tacos, enchiladas, quesadillas and fajitas.
Meltwich
Meltwich, a Toronto-based chain that specializes in all things cheese, has yet to open at 1404 W. University Ave., Suite 30, despite its sign being up since July. The restaurant sells grilled cheese and a variety of comfort foods…
