NEW YORK (PIX11) — Police officers rescued a boy who fell through ice on a Long Island pond on Christmas Day, the Suffolk County Police Department said.
Police received a 911 call for help around 1 p.m. on Thursday, according to authorities.
Police said an 8-year-old boy was playing on ice that had frozen over a pond behind the Heaterwood Lakeside Village apartment complex in East Patchogue when he fell through. He landed in water that was chest-deep and was unable to free himself, according to authorities.
