Hundreds in Roanoke enjoy Christmas feast at Rescue Mission

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – On Christmas Day, when many are gathered around family tables, hundreds in Roanoke found a seat at one that’s open to everyone.

The Rescue Mission of Roanoke hosted its annual Christmas feast, serving a traditional holiday meal to anyone who needed it.“We want to make sure that no one feels alone on Christmas Day, that they have a place at the table and they’re surrounded with people who love them,” said Lisa Thompson with The Rescue Mission of Roanoke.

The meal ran from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., but the preparation took weeks, powered by more than 100 volunteers. “We plan to feed over 500,” said Thompson.
