Citing concerns about size, scale and “fit,” the Town Council has declined to bestow landmark status on a three-story, 1950s-era building on Worth Avenue in the heart of Palm Beach’s Midtown commercial district.
In a 3-2 vote, council members rejected a landmark designation for The Worth Avenue Building at 201 Worth Ave. The designation would have generally protected the building’s exteriors walls from significant alteration without the permission of the Landmarks Preservation Commission.
On the northwest corner of Worth Avenue and South County Road, the building’s main storefront is home to the luxury lifestyle brand Christopher King, which replaced longtime tenant Linda A. Gary Real Estate this year after the agency spent more than 30 years in the space…
