Junction City Man Arrested After Hit-and-Run, Knife Incident East of Cheshire

Lane County deputies arrested a Junction City man after a hit-and-run with a rental truck and a later disorderly incident involving a knife.

Lane County, OR. — Lane County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a reported hit-and-run shortly before 11 p.m. on December 23 at a residence in the 27800 block of Highway 36, east of Cheshire.

Deputies contacted the victims nearby and learned they had been rammed by a rental box truck while driving down their driveway. The truck also smashed through a gate on the property. The driver was identified as Christopher Eugene Starnes, 46, of Junction City.

While deputies were speaking with the victims, a second caller reported Starnes was being disorderly on the property, walking around naked while holding a large knife. Starnes then left the scene in the rental box truck…
