Gunman Opens Fire at Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office, Injuring Three

WALLACE, ID – A violent incident unfolded Friday afternoon at the Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office in Wallace, leaving three individuals with minor injuries and the suspected gunman deceased.

According to Shoshone County Sheriff William Eddy, the suspect entered the lobby of the sheriff’s office and began firing around 2:30 p.m. During the chaotic event, an officer sustained a “nick” to the ear, and two women sitting in a pickup truck outside the building were struck in the leg after the gunman fired through their windshield.

Sheriff Eddy confirmed that the suspect was pronounced deceased at 4:15 p.m. The identities of the suspect and the two injured women have not yet been released.

Law enforcement from neighboring agencies, along with the FBI, responded to the scene. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, and further details regarding the sequence of events are expected to be released as they become available.

Wallace, a community of approximately 800 residents, is located in northern Idaho, roughly 80 miles east of Spokane, Washington.
