CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — Kwanzaa began Friday, marking the start of a weeklong cultural celebration centered on reflection, unity and renewal – principles Lowcountry educators say resonate deeply with the region’s history.
Observed through Jan. 1, Kwanzaa is often misunderstood, but leaders at the International African American Museum say its lessons extend beyond the holiday itself.
