GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — The family and friends of a man shot and killed in a car on I-73 just after midnight on Sunday say they took this holiday to grieve together and now they want answers in his death.
28-year-old Lavon Bennett and another victim were shot inside a car on I-73 Southbound. Bennett died from those injuries and the other victim is recovering.
Bennett was known as “Von” to his loved ones. His relative Tamica Campbell Hughes says he could always make people laugh and he poured out love even to people he had just met.

“So for us and our family, we love Von and when he would come, we just all just laugh, cut up and be silly. And the fun part about Von and my mom, they danced together a lot, and they had this certain dance they would do. They’d do it together, and we just laugh,” Hughes says…
