PennDOT placed further restrictions on roadways across Pennsylvania and the Harrisburg region Friday evening, as ice continues to accumulate from the winter storm.
Speed limits of 45 miles per hour have been expanded from PennDOT’s initial announcement, and now include the entirety of most major roadways in the region. The speed restrictions encompass:
- Interstate 81 from Maryland line to the Schuylkill County line
- Interstate 83, entire length
- US-11 from Duncannon to the Juniata County line
- US-22/322 from I-81 to Millerstown
- Interstate 283, entire length
- PA-581, entire length
- US-15, entire length
- PA-283, entire length
- US-30 from PA-24 to PA-462
- US-222, entire length
Tier 3 commercial vehicle restrictions are also in place for interstates 81, 83, 283, and 78. Only loaded single-trailer commercial trucks with chains or an approved “alternate traction device” are permitted, and must stay in the right lane.
School buses, commercial buses, motor coaches, motorcycles, RVs or motorhomes, and passenger vehicles (including pickup trucks) towing trailers are not allowed on the restricted interstates…
