Officers shoot at man who fired shots at woman and her dog, police say

Police officers fired shots at a man who shot at a woman and her dog in Pittsburgh’s Shadyside neighborhood on Friday, authorities said.

No persons were hit by the gunfire, according to a news release from the Allegheny County Police Department, which said that officers with the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police were called to the 4700 block of Centre Avenue for a reported assault around 4:15 p.m.

When Pittsburgh police officers arrived at the scene, they found a man threatening a woman and her dog with a gun outside an apartment building. County police said after officers yelled at the man to drop his weapon, he fired “multiple” shots at the victim and the dog. Officers returned fire as the man attempted to run away, and he was later taken into custody…
