NEW MEXICO (KRQE) — A New Mexico mother is behind bars this evening after police say her 4-year-old son tested positive for cocaine. Police say they were originally dispatched to the home of 39-year-old Crystal Hernandez because of a domestic dispute.

When police arrived with a search warrant, they saw a 4-year-old sleeping on the bed with dried blood near his nose. Hernandez told police that his brother hit him in the face. The officer requested paramedics to the scene, and noticed that his front teeth were rotted and his heartbeat was abnormal.
The child was taken to the hospital, and medical professionals confirmed that he tested positive for cocaine. When police spoke with Hernandez, she said her child most likely got into her boyfriend’s drugs. She is facing a child abuse charge…
