Rio Rancho installs 10 new speed camera boxes around town

RIO RANCHO, N.M. (KRQE) – Rio Rancho is using a new technology to crack down on speeders. This month, the city added ten new speed cameras along busy roads in an attempt to slow drivers down.

For years, the City of Rio Rancho has used speed vans around the city to catch drivers going too fast. But now the city is shifting to a different technology with speed camera boxes operated by Verra Mobility and installed on December 13 in ten hotspots around town.

Some of the streets with the new cameras include Unser, Loma Colorado, and Broadmoor. One of them is near Rio Rancho High School. “I don’t want the children to be at risk for safety while crossing at pedestrian crossings,” Rio Rancho resident Katie Cieslinski said…
