Multnomah County Inverness Jail Inmate Dies, Sheriff’s Office Launches Investigation

An adult who was in custody at the Multnomah County Inverness Jail has died, prompting an investigation by the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO).

The incident occurred early Wednesday morning when deputies found the individual unresponsive in a dorm, efforts to save their life were initiated immediately by deputies and the Multnomah County Health Department Corrections Health staff, the response unfolded in real-time no second was spared as the situation escalated quickly and paramedics from the Portland Fire Bureau and American Medical Response (AMR) stepped in to transport the person to the hospital. Despite these efforts, the in-custody adult was pronounced dead at the medical facility. “Our thoughts are with the family of the person who died as we move through this investigation,” Sheriff Nicole Morrisey O’Donnell said in the news release.

The East County Major Crimes Team is now heading the death investigation with contributions from detectives across multiple agencies in the area, including the MCSO Detective Unit, Port of Portland Police Department, Gresham Police Department, and Oregon State Police, as noted in the Sheriff’s Office’s statement release…
