Firework-related calls down as deadly Aliamanu explosion nears 1 year

HONOLULU (KHON2) — Nearly one year after a deadly fireworks explosion rocked the Aliamanu neighborhood, residents say life on their street is slowly returning to normal. But the tragedy that claimed six lives and injured more than 20 people remains fresh in their minds.

The explosion, caused by illegal fireworks, sent shockwaves through the community and prompted widespread calls for stricter enforcement and safer celebrations statewide. Today, the damaged home has been repaired, and the same family is once again living inside.
