Colorado deputy-recruit adopts nephew after Georgia custody exchange shooting

DENVER — A 5-year-old boy is coming to Colorado after his mother and grandmother were killed during a custody exchange in Georgia this fall. His uncle, a Navy veteran training to become a sheriff’s deputy in Colorado, is in the process of adopting him.

David Domingo was about two and a half months into the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office academy when the shooting happened on Sept. 7.
