First Alert Weather: Unusually warm temperatures for last weekend of 2025

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – It’s been a cloudy and warm start to the day. We had patchy fog in parts of west Alabama, but most of the fog has dissipated.

We are looking at a dry afternoon with a cloudy sky. High temperatures will likely warm into the lower 70s today with southwest winds at 5-10 mph. I doubt we’ll break any record high temperatures today if clouds don’t break. Record highs on this day were recorded in 2015 when we saw temperatures climb into the mid to upper 70s. If you have any evening plans, we will likely remain mostly cloudy and dry with temperatures cooling into the mid to upper 60s by 7 p.m. CST.

One more spring-like day: The unusually warm weather will continue for one more day. We will likely wake up with clouds, patchy fog, and temperatures in the lower 60s Sunday morning. An isolated shower is possible tomorrow, but most of us will remain dry and mostly cloudy. Temperatures will remain well above average once again with highs in the low to mid 70s. It’ll be a breezy afternoon as winds pick up from the southwest at 10-15 mph with gusts up to 20 mph.

Next Big Thing: The big weather story early next week is the return to cold temperatures. A strong cold front will move through Alabama Sunday night into Monday morning. We will likely see showers develop in northwest Alabama late Sunday evening. Rain will push to the southeast giving most of us around one or two tenths of an inch of rainfall. Winds could gust up to 25-30 mph as the rain moves through the state. Severe weather is not expected with this system…
