Wrong-way Christmas Eve crash kills 24-year-old and infant in Lexington County

LEXINGTON, S.C. — Authorities have identified the two people killed in a wrong-way crash on Christmas Eve in Lexington County as a 24-year-old woman and a 1-year-old child.

The Lexington County Coroner’s Office said Gloria Martinez Alonso, 24, and Elisa Martinez, 1, both of West Columbia, died at the scene of the crash on Platt Springs Road. The collision happened around 11:30 p.m., just minutes before Christmas Day.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, a Cadillac SUV was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of Platt Springs Road when it collided head-on with a Ford Focus that was traveling the right way…
