Frenchie pup stranded on small island rescued by deputies and local fishermen

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office shared a video and details of the heartwarming rescue of a French bulldog who somehow found himself in “deep” water when her found himself stranded on a small island in Florida along the Ribault River.

It had been a few weeks ago when ISO District 6 Officers Moran and Duggar responded to an emergency call about a dog in distress near Grand Street. The frightened pup had been stranded on the small island; he was cold and wet, and most importantly – unable to get to safety on his own.

Officers began the rescue efforts, and waved over two local fishermen asking them for help. The volunteers used their boat to reach the island and capture the scared pup and bring him back to shore.

French bulldogs are generally poor swimmers. Their short legs, heavy bodies and flat faces make it difficult for them to keep their heads above water and breathe. These dogs need to wear life vests and be carefully monitored when anywhere near water…
