NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — Stu Phillips, a country music singer, broadcaster and longtime member of the Grand Ole Opry, died Christmas Day at age 92. He joined the Opry in 1967 and was its oldest-living member at the time of his death.
Born in 1933 near Montreal, Phillips began performing as a teenager and later hosted popular radio and television programs in Canada.
A No. 1 Canadian hit in 1965 led him to Nashville, where he recorded several U.S. country hits, including “Vin Rosé” and “Juanita Jones.”…
