Fugitive charged in St. Clair County murder, arrested in St. Louis

ST. LOUIS – A man accused in a St. Clair County murder case in October who reportedly fled across state lines to St. Louis is now behind bars.

The St. Clair County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office has charged Jerry Campbell, 47, with first-degree murder, aggravated battery and mob action, filing charges on Oct. 2, 2025, according to Illinois court records.

On Monday, the St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office charged Campbell with the offense of being a fugitive from out-of-state.
