Cessna Penguin Cove reopens at Sedgwick County Zoo on Christmas Day

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – Cessna Penguin Cove reopened Christmas Day at Sedgwick County Zoo after closing earlier this year due to damage from a crack and water leak that affected the exhibit’s windows.

The 23 penguins had been housed behind the scenes while crews repaired their habitat. The exhibit now features brand new custom-built windows and structural upgrades, though the overall design remains unchanged.

“It’s really exciting for us and my team of keepers. We’re really excited to have everybody come see the penguins again. I know that the public really loves them as much as we do. We’re happy for our birds to be able to come back on habitat,” said Ana Frace, zoological manager…
