SCHENECTADY — Schenectady firefighters fought through frigid temperatures and heavy snow early Saturday morning to extinguish a fire that erupted inside a vacant building on Hamlin Street.
Firefighters arrived at 6 Hamlin St. around 4:21 a.m., responding to a report of black smoke billowing from the roof. They discovered “heavy fire” on the building’s second floor and in the attic upon arrival, Fire Chief George Burns said in a news release.
