For the past four summers, pedestrians on Fort Washington Road in Fort Washington have been treated to the beauty of local artist Harvey Jewell’s paintings. Jewell, 80, has become a fixture every Saturday, displaying and selling his artwork on the street.
His paintings generate a lot of interest, often luring drivers from their cars for closer inspection. What attracts them is the eye-catching quality of Jewell’s work, which is dominated by rich, diverse colors. His creation of beautiful, nature-inspired images has become his trademark. He laughingly acknowledges that his paintings are strategically placed to catch the eye of pedestrians and drivers alike.
