ERIE, PA – Parts of Pennsylvania, Ohio, and New York are ringing in the new year with a bundle of weather alerts. Here’s what you should know as you make your resolutions for 2026:
A high wind watch is in effect for Erie, Ashtabula, and Chautauqua Counties from Sunday night to late Monday night. West winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph are possible during this period.
A flood watch is in effect for Chautauqua County from Sunday afternoon to Monday afternoon. Excessive rainfall can cause flooding in rivers and creeks as accumulations could reach between 1 and 1.5 inches.
And finally, a winter storm watch is in effect for Chautauqua County from Monday afternoon to Thursday morning. For about three days, periods of lake-effect snow will lead to accumulations totaling more than 7 inches. High winds can also cause blowing and drifting snow, reducing visibility.
