HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — North Huntsville’s nightlife district is implementing a coordinated security approach as eighteen bars and restaurants connect through a shared identification scanning system designed to prevent violent incidents before they occur.
The network allows participating venues to share information about patrons who have caused problems at any location within the group. When security staff scan a customer’s identification at the entrance, the system immediately alerts them if that person has been banned from another business in the network, showing the duration of the ban, the reason for it, and which establishment issued it.
Marc Patton, owner of 4th Quarter Revamp, said the initiative responds to challenges that have accompanied the area’s growth. “We’re growing, so we get big city problems, and to curve all that, we’re just trying to get together, unite together and ban problem makers that come out to our facilities,” Patton said…
